Overview
Tarsiers are small primates that live in the lush forests of Southeast Asia. These adorable creatures are about 10 to 15 centimeters (4 to 6 inches) long, making them one of the tiniest primates in the world!
Tarsiers can rotate their heads almost all the way around, about 180 degrees! This unique ability helps them spot tasty insects and other small animals hiding in their surroundings.
These remarkable creatures have very large eyes that are bigger than their brains! Their big eyes help them see well in the dark, as tarsiers are mostly nocturnal and love to go hunting for insects when the sun goes down.
Tarsiers have a special diet consisting mainly of insects. They also enjoy eating small vertebrates like frogs and birds, which helps keep their menus interesting!
With a lifespan of 12 to 20 years, tarsiers have plenty of time to bounce around the trees and show off their impressive leaps. Their long fingers and toes help them grip branches and leap from tree to tree with ease.
These furry little creatures belong to the Mamma-licious class of animals! Tarsiers are part of the primate order and fit right in with our animal kingdom, showcasing just how versatile and wonderful life can be.
